KDBC'S MISSION STATEMENT
“The Kelowna Dirt Bike Club is committed to provide a safe, fun place for riders of all skill levels to practice Motocross and enjoy themselves. We are a family orientated club that wants to provide the community with a controlled environment, where members can enjoy the sport of motocross, and spend time with family and friends”.
History and Benefits of the Kelowna MX Club
The Kelowna MX Club would like to thank you for the opportunity to talk to you about our Club. The following information will answer most of your questions and if we have missed anything please feel free to ask.
The Kelowna MX Club was started in 2000 with the original agreement being signed by the owners in this area at that time. Since then, the club has had great support from local residence, business owners and families from as far as Vancouver. From the beginning, the club felt it was important to have a board of directors and rules for all members to follow (See attached Rule Sheet). A few of the key areas that the club truly believes in are: family, fun and safety – safety meaning the rider and the environment. Keeping the near-by homeowners and the environment in mind, the club has always had a schedule of times that the track can be used: the track is only open April through June and September through October with riding 2 days a week (Wed -evening & Sunday – day). Special events may require added days to be open. We close the track for July and August. With the track being a controlled area, we are able to monitor what goes on during our open times and are making sure the members are respecting the area and it is maintained.
The club is proud to provide a “Family” riding area that all ages (of 5 – 60), men and ladies can use knowing that they are in a safe environment. This enables us to take riders off dangerous logging roads and provide an area for new riders to learn without being in danger. Currently, the club has over 200 members, mostly families. Many of these members are business owners and well known figures in our communities. It is great to see families coming together with a common passion and enjoy the Okanagan's beautiful outdoors. The club is run completely by volunteers and many of these volunteers have put countless hours and dollars to create this safe place to ride.
Everyone deserves the right to participate in a chosen sport whether it be baseball, golf or soccer etc. This gives our kids something to focus on, keeps them off the streets and out of trouble. If there was no track these riders would be free to ride anytime and any day without any safety control or concern for the privacy of our neighbours. All riders on the track are covered by the Kelowna MX Insurance that the club holds.
This club is providing a great addition to the area and brings alot of enjoyment to many families.
